Machame Route

The Machame Route, famously known as the “Whisky Route,” is one of the most sought-after and highly recommended paths to conquer Mount Kilimanjaro.

Renowned for its breathtaking beauty, this route winds through lush, ancient forests before ascending along a stunning ridge that leads to the Shira Plateau, with spectacular views of the moorland.

As you continue, the trail takes you beneath the towering, glaciated cliffs of the Southern Icefields, eventually merging with the Barafu Route for the final push to the summit.

Covering approximately 62 kilometers, this journey can be completed in 6 days, though 7 days are recommended for a more relaxed pace and better acclimatization, allowing you to climb high during the day and rest at lower altitudes at night for optimal preparation.
